For our API Development Department at Zentiva Prague development centre, we are looking for a colleague who will be responsible for the following:
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DUTIES
- Assessment of chemical manufacturing processes from safety point of view, mainly using calorimeters and other specific instruments from the field of physical chemistry.
- Compilation of process safety results into comprehensible and structured documents in English.
- Reveal, communicate and discuss potential risks related with chemical process under study with the project team.
- Plan and deliver the safety experiments and testing accordingly to project timelines, prioritize the tasks and organize the laboratory workflow.
- Take part in maintaining the process safety laboratory, storekeeping and ordering of specific disposable accessories, ensure that the instrumentation is operational.
- When necessary, run experiments and testing independently after appropriate training, including handling with reagents, precise weighting, operating gas cylinders, taking samples, and similar.
- Discuss reaction mechanisms, importance of process parameters and reagent dosing order across the project team to ensure proper understanding of the chemistry taking place.
- Cooperation with HSE department and other internal parties on assessment of risks, in which you will build expertise (e.g. powder handling safety).
- Support the manufacturing parties in implementing proper protective measures, communicate with HSE specialists.
- Cooperation on risk management and investigation of eventual accidents, proposing preventive measures or chemical process modifications.
- To constantly and proactively build own expertise in the chemical Process safety field of work.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- University Degree in Natural science (PhD is an advantage).
- Solid knowledge of Organic chemistry and capacity of common Physical chemistry calculations.
- Experience with publishing of own scientific results in English.
- Experience with running own chemical experiments and measurements, manual skilfulness. Practise in physical chemistry experimentation is an advantage but not a must.
- Ability to learn quickly new skills from a very specific field of work.
- PC skills in MS Office, routine advanced use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Advanced level of English – B2 at least, with focus on comprehensible written form.
- Communication and planning skills, structured work approach.
